There's certainly a useful identical boiler in existance at NRM on the J17; not sure condition... Not sure if parts compatability re running gear same as Midland/Great Western engines but the J17 would not look any different if those parts 'borrowed' if cladding placed around something...Would save LOTS of money and time, perhaps could join with anyone else ?D7 group to cast wheels etc? Still favor Frederick the Great as a plate- would honour Stratford workforce....Seems the NRM willing to loan stuff- what about steaming the J17?!?

News in from the last hour that 8783's Has a new name, this will be 'Phoenix'. See the blog post on the website: http://claudhamiltongroup.webs.com/apps/blog/show/7340897-new-name-and-new-headboard-
A headboard has also been produced. See the post.

"Today at 8pm 8783's new name was revealed, It was decided to change the name from Lady Hamilton for verious reasons, mainly to that people might relate it to Lord Nelsons mistriss rather than the loco.

Phoenix was chosen for a number of reasons, including that the Phoenix bird is a handsome, beautiful and elegant creature, which the Claud is often said to be. A new Phoenix bird is also said to live longer than the last, and of course we hope the Claud will be same once it has 'risen from the ashes'. We also wanted a name which people can remember and we hope Phoenix will do just that. "

Tornado shared its name with an LNWR engine. That hasn't stopped it from being a terrific piece of engineering, and a characterful loco in preservation. "Phoenix" is quite an apt description of many of these lazarus locomotives, to be frank.

Yes indeed, plum forgot that one! As I say, that hasn't stopped Tornado (60163) making its own legend, so to speak.

From what has been gathered it looks like multiple named engines doesn't affect the engines. Great news for the group.

Just an update on the Claud, the website has been updated and a Team page added showing the team behind the project, the home page and about us page has also been updated with some more details added.

One of our members recently visited the NRM York and obtained a few drawings, and the group as a whole plans to make a group visit to the museum to obtain more a little later in the year.
