Was bang on time through Egham with 34067 at the helm and a diesel tagged on the back. 30 minutes later Clan Line raced through in the opposite direction on the VSOE.

For steam fans, this was wonderful and certainly cheered up the SWT Revenue Inspectors doing their mundane "catch the fair dodgers" work on Egham station!

How right you are. One girl was approached to produce ID because she had a young persons ticket. She could produce it and so they telephoned someone and turned out that she was 19 and too old for such a ticket. She had to go away and buy another one.

One other fair dodge was spotted by the Revenue men when an up Reading service arrived and departed and a group of 4 youngters came over the bridge and when the revenue men were spotted, they stayed on the platform and waited for a train back to where they came from. They pounced on these youngsters none of whom had a ticket!

Maybe they should be banged up for cheating the system! Not for life though. 5 days hard labour would do.

25 late off of Stevenage. I hope the passengers are enjoying the diesel tour of the GN as the 37 was doing almost all the work as it passed me and others who were further north. Barely a whisper out of 34067.

You should've been at Sandy Mr B, you could've enjoyed the sight of a Hurricane flying out of Shuttleworth.

The problem reported with the 37 having high water pressure and shut down causing the brakes to come on just south of St. Neots. 34067 also reported to have low coal issues. The coal situation to be assessed on arrival at Spalding with the view of running to Sleaford instead of Lincoln for the loco to be coaled there. Departure planned for Sleaford at 16:45 and going via Allington Curve to regain its booked path north of Grantham.

Interesting. The info I received was allegedly from staff on board the train.
