Couldn't agree more Steve, it all comes down to business and raising revenue from being run, so more than one example of the larger locos running at any one time will always be a risky business, more than two, well the risks multiply.
Smaller locos Black 5's etc are a different story, they have a different part to play, you want a steam hauled special, then they are fine general use loco, but the Pacifics in my opinion have a different position in the market.

I also agree thoroughly. Some people are obsessed with having every locomotive in steam.

On one of my rare ventures into the world of blog (Anthony Coulls is far more accomplished than I) I can confirm that the Duchess of Hamilton story in the Railway Herald is factually correct.

No no, thats not what I meant. It would be nice to see the three duchesses together, like the A4 lineup that happened a few years back. My apologies, I wasn't very clear.

EDIT: Seems I've inadvertantly opened a can of worms. I had no intention of suggesting CoB to steam, merely a lineup

Good evening Mr Davies, or even though we have not formally be introduced perhaps you will allow Steve, welcome to the world of Nat Pres..
The big question that you will now be beset with is When.... Or is that still a piece of string type question?

Don't get too involved, though; it can become addictive, as long as you separate the wheat from the chaff! The regulator can get quite free and easy at times.

Thank you for coming on Steve and scotching my passing thought that all of this could be a wind up.
So now as Ralph has mentioned all we have to do is find the end of the piece of string.:) If this becomes a public appeal I don't think there will be a problem raising the money....even in these hard times.
I had the privilege of being part of the support crew that delivered Hamilton back to the NRM and the reaction of the public waiting for trains as we passed through stations was something else, you could almost hear the jaws dropping as this vision in red and gold went by. And that was when she was being dragged by a diesel just imagine what it will be like when she's back in steam.!!

I must admit to not being impressed by this project at first but, having seen the finished article I can only say it looks truly stunning. In steam with 12 or so matching carriages it would be a show stopper.

    Cheers Dave

I think we've already had the best we can reasonably expect back at Crewe in 2005 when we had 46201, 46203, 46229 and 46233 lined up together.

So normals need isolating from the very experience they are paying to enjoy - I think not. As for the lineside - which side of the fence are you on?
