Yses, but what way round are they facing at the moment, and will there be any turntable demonstrations during the day?

By 3pm today the locos had been shunted into their positions for moving off shed in the morning in the correct order. When I left site this afternoon 73050 was facing Yarwell and 44422 was facing in the opposite direction, towards Peterborough. The turntable/turntable road was clear of stock so I presume it will see some use during the gala - we know turntable demonstrations are popular and often draw a crowd, so hopefully these have been arranged - although I must stress I do not know for certain. I'd be very surprised if the double header had the locos facing in opposite directions as the turntable makes 'getting it right' very easy.

Further to all this 73050 will be hauling the 3pm TPO service rather than 31108.

Had an excellent day yesterday; certainly worth the 0440 alarm call and 368 mile round trip in the car.

Hope the NVR make this a annual event in the timetable.

Was quiet during the morning but seemed a lot busier during the afternoon.

Plenty taking up the offer of either a ploughmans lunch / afternoon tea in the Fenman coach.

Wonder if the use of this coach during a diesel weekend would be considered?

    Ploughmans lunch part?

    Enjoyed good runs behind 73050, 5485, 31108 and 44422.

A busy/varied timetable which ran well apart from a couple of places where 20 mins delays occurred; due to Wansford being a "jigsaw puzzle"; to get the freight, TPO, locos and 2 passengers sets into place throughout the day, trains back to time by end of day.

Hat's off to those that plan the shunting moves.

5485 and 73050 were turned during the day; meaning the double header was tender first from Peterborough.

Well done to all those at the NVR for putting on a great show - more please.

    Best Regards

Had a fantastic day today, was a superb event. A lot better than a great deal of railways gala's that i have been to in the past. Its good to just stand and watch movements at Wansford, non stop action!

Nice to hear locos actually working hard and not rolling about in first valve, also its great to be able to get up close and walk along the footpaths at the same time, makes for a good day out!

Just put a vid up at:

Was wonderful to see the S&D double header.

    Cheers,
    Mark
