I understand from another site Mr Riley is turning the boiler upright today......................outside. God help them, the weather is appalling with really strong wind. Hope all goes well.

As an aside, we should not forget the acheivement of Ian Riley's team in building what is virtually a new large traditional firebox for 60103.

Presumably as recently as when the A1 people were looking for this expertise it was not available in the UK and they went to Germany for a welded design.

Huge respect to Ian and his team, lets hope that the skills involved are now established for when the next "biggie" comes along.

Don't forget the considerable effort of Pridhams, in making the firebox kit of parts also.

NRM have just posted on Twitter (@railwaymuseum) that the final colour will be their decision and, as 4472, people expect it to be in Apple Green. In a separate tweet they have also stated that without smoke deflectors steam and smoke blocks the drivers vision sufficiently to impair spotting of signals.

This conflicts with the 4472 webpage! Lets hope for 4472 in black until after trials!
