Indeed yes let's hope for a fast Waterloo to Salisbury run at some stage. 35028 can easily do this in 80 minutes even with the 75 limit. Finding a path will be a problem though.

A very fine engine and one of my ton up Merchants from the days of steam-perhaps the best of all the tons-103-104 at Fleet with the late great Gordon Porter up front. Close to 3,000 IHP that night.

35028 in steam this afternoon. The support coach has been moved to the end of the prep road and the loco has been moving up and down the yard. Looking forward to tomorrow morning.

Will hopefully be seeing this at some point today. Not seen 35028 in action since the early 90s when it use to do the North Wales Coast specials.

Test run underway, left Crewe on schedule, seen a couple of miles from Crewe going very steadily, video now processing.

Loco + coach movements are usually limited to 45 mph because of limited brake force, IIRC, so I guess even the second run will be fairly sedate. Very pleased to know she's back up and running today.

By the way, has anyone heard what route next week's Crewe - Wimbledon trip is likely to take? Straight up the WCML or via Oxford? (I'm hoping it might be via Oxford)

Video now up, and it's a lot less that 45mph as you can see.

If there's a "box" on the back (like on this test run), does that change the brake force/max speed?

    Nice coverage Austin.
I noticed steam coming from the back of the tender when she passed me and it's there on Austins shots as well, does it have a coal pusher or is it something else?

It's the air pump for air braking. It's situated at the rear of the tender on 35028.

Great videos and good to see the plates back on. My information is that the test run was successful today and looking forward to its return on Monday to Wimbledon

Anyone know what happened on the second run, contact at Crewe saw her setting out for Chester and a friend waited near Beeston for the return from 6pm to 7pm and saw nothing, and that was absolutely nothing, not even a service train.
