7827 suffered a minor steam leak in the smoke box yesterday, so she was out for the rest of the day. She was only rostered to do the rest of the week so we are in no rush to repair her. (The coupling rods are from 4555)

5239 is being warmed up for a steam test following some work on her recently.

4277 will work the rest of the week and then be pulled for the winter.

On the note of the Torbay Express: THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED! This year has gone quite smoothly all things considered! Roll on for 2011 and another season of steam on the mainline to Devon!

Indeed. Its about time a tornado ripped down Torbay Road (and I don't mean the A1 variety, which crosses one end of it now and then on a Summer Sunday!)
Will the railway get that money back?
What would £46k pay for? - A re-paint of all the coaches in the correct livery? (oh no, did I bring that old chestnut up again) :peep:

I hope that the railway had some insurance cover. It's a big hit to take.

What's the correct livery for ex-DMU trailers? Green, Blue, Blue-Grey, perhaps Network Southeast?

It's also made The Times newspaper (Tuesday's I believe).
I was in the local pub last night & was given a cutting from The Times with nice picture of 7827 going up Goodrington Bank tender first on it.
The write up was about this, so it made the nationals !

Now on a different note, As it's now November has the redevelopment of Paignton (Queens Park) Station started yet ?
Read somewhere that it should be finished by Easter next year.
May be someone that lives down there can post some pix's on the redevelopment between now & Easter so we can see what is happening !
I wouldn't think the railway would up date there site with pix's !

The reported theft had very little impact on the "rebuild budget".

The rebuild IS still going ahead. However, as reported on BBC Spotlight, yesterday, it will no tbe finished until April 2012. Passengers should be unaffected this year. Our Santa by Steam Services will run from Paignton with full facilities. There is work to do within the "rebuild project" that does not affect passenger areas.

Hopefully there will be some noticeable changes shortly.

I understand that the contractors found a major problem with the sewers which would require replacing before any work could be done on the station buildings.

Just seen on there updated web site that there is now 3 timetables (Green Orange & Blue)
    http://www.dartmouthrailriver.co.uk/times-fares/steam-train/steam-train-timetable
The Green & Seem to be the same as they have been, but on the orange one I don't remember
    a 17.00 departure from Paignton & return Kingswear 17.40.
The Blue one seems that it's 2 train operation with the first train leaving Paignton at 10.30

Also the Heritage Festival is now listed 28th to 30th May 2011.
Heard it was on Face Book a while ago but not on there web site !

They did used to have this until about 2005 when it was dropped, but glad to see it return.

Yes, we've reviewed the timetable this year, particularly the times before and just after our "Peak" timetable as this was where we found ourselves to be almost overloaded with passengers, even with 13 coaches in tow. Hopefully, the blue timetable will now stop this. The 17.00 departure from paignton is also extra this year, taking it from 9 to 10 departures a day.

yes, the Heritage festival is also back this year. Sat28th - Mon30th May 2011. Watch this space.........
