Good day on the CVR today the siding was put in and just a small amount of fettling required. Another step towards the reopening.

Great new photos. I'm dying to see what's around the corner!

How far did you take the 37 up the line?

The 37 075 was sat on the Cauldon Lowe Points when I was down on Tuesday and I was there for a while and there was no movement with it, some of the photos show whats around the corner. This is what is around the corner, http://www.flickr.com/photos/mcr-fbg/4805658762/ & http://www.flickr.com/photos/mcr-fbg/4804966479/ & http://www.flickr.com/photos/mcr-fbg/4804910387/

The line was walked from Apesford Crossing to Leekbrook doing the last of the small jobs on that section. It now looks great . Upwards and onward towards Cauldon, won't be long now before we finish that section as well.

The tamper arrived at the CVR today so should be soon be working on the Cauldon line. The timetable for the Gala has also been published on the MCR website.

Looking good but am confused re- the 24th/26th. According to the website the 24th is steam, 26th diesel but the timetables suggest the roles reversed?

Looks like the headings are wrong. It is steam on the 24th and diesel on the 26th. Gav, I can only go on what is on the website, not privy to anything else.

It is my understanding that the 24th is indeed to be Steam and the 26th Diesel.

Crimes Coboman, You know when to have a day off. We struggled today changing broken chairs on concrete sleepers in Bradnop Tunnel. Remember these had been under water for quite a few years and despite a few days of decent weather there was still a nice lot of sticky clay. Nuts were well rusted on and our oap-way gang was well and truly knackered after 8 Hrs. work. You can come back next week, we finished the job. Only kidding.

Awwwww sorry man! I've been made to pay though, 4 1/2 hours to change a rear disk and caliper on my car! It decided to fight me every which way I turned. Just to put icing on the cake me handbrake is now jamned on....
TBH I would have thought an oxy-acetylene torch to get them red hot would have been the order of the day, and then a 3/4 drive socket set with a 12' scafolding pole to get em off. I just don't know how you guys manage without me! I'm only kidding too!

The tamper has now started working on the line. It started at Leekbrook and is working its way up. Work on the line overall is progressing well and with the cutting back of the trees and undergrowth there are some great views. Can't wait to go up behind the Duke.

When it rains in the moorlands it pours. Today there we were working or standing like orange penguins with waterfalls coming off our hoods, putting chairs on and drilling for elastic spikes in the newly changed sleepers in the Apesdale to Winkhill section. Then hammering the spikes into the sleepers ready for the tamper to come and pack them to their correct height and cant. Oh the joys of working on the p way,but we came away tired, muscles like Popeye and knowing that it was a job well done. Thanks to all those who turned out, in fact we had so many that some went and did a line inspection on the CVR.
