Indeed. If anyone's heading out to see it on the return, it was through Twyford on the fast line 15-20 minutes early, so get going!

No video, only just got there in time to see it pass through.

I would say it was the headcode for the up Bristolian in latter steam days (or 1A92 in diesel terms). Likewise the one tonight carried B17, the old down Bristolian code. The route letter codes came in the late 50's I believe. Previously it was 3 figures like the VT train carried in April. Must of been your text I got at Tilehurst, it was on the relief by then at 18.35, still around 15 min up. Never seen so much black clag. Running slowly under single yellow although the preceding local was about 8 mins ahead. By the way, when I arrived at Tilehurst around 18.18 a West Coast 37 went down the relief on a rake of 2 Green Train MK2's & about 5-6 West Coast maroon MK1's.

Fabulous pics, thanks. Just timeless, those at Maidenhead Bridge could have been taken 50 years ago. It's so nice to see the King back on its home ground. I think that's 4 times in a year now for Paddington - Bristol, and it's been brilliant every time. Got overshadowed a bit by the young upstart Earl of Mount Edgcumbe earlier this year, but the King is The Boss!

No news on the 6024 water carrier lately. Any updates? <BJ>

Thanks, only just got there on time, coming back from Oxford via Henley and the feds had closed the road bridge there, so had to divert via almost Reading, and it was running a tad early.....
Got to the spot on the river, took a few test shots and then it showed up.
