I was not querying the general policy, it seems fairly sensible to run in and then apply the top coat for a new build. Rather that in this case having already painted the tanks green, lined them etc it seemed a bit to piant over them.

Looking on the web cam it looks a fair size, which I never really appreciated from looking at old pictures. I always though they were rather slight!

The old paint on the tanks was very hash and certainly was not lined out.

OK but they had Southern written on them in fairly large letters. Thanks for the response though. I had always assumed that they had a been completed to basic normal top coat standard whilst waiting to be fitted, hence it seemed a bit odd to paint over.

Good to see that the NP tradition of greeting the debut of yet another fantastic steam machine with a moan about the paint is still alive and well then. Give me strength.

Horrible - it's really only suitable as a shunting whistle. The whistle heard in my video is the second, large whistle...

I'm working on more photos right now, should be posted to fotopic later tonight - I'll let you know when...

ope you're referring to 'Lyd'..! :eyebrows:

Yes - although the two lady drivers aren't (Drivers that is, not not ladies...).

Dawn - with the pigtails - is Boston Lodge's newest employee, while Emma - with the bob (That's a hairstyle, not a reference to Bob Yates standing behind her) - is a fireman.

The two ladies (That's Dawn and Emma - not 'Linda' and 'Blanche') were given the honour of fitting the regulator lever - the first time this has been installed on 'Lyd'...
