47760 is currently on it's way to rescue the train. Retimed to depart Scarborough 20 minutes later, cutting out the water stop at Bootham.

Thanks for the information, what a shame about 46115, hopefully knowing too serious for WCRC.

46115/WCRC doesn't seem to be having much luck of late, things can only get better.

I've just spoken to someone who was on the train and, apparently, WCR are hoping to repair 46115 overnight.

wow, 46115 fails and I wasn't trying to photograph it!

btw, anybody else find it confusing that they chose to use a Hall Class and call it Hogwarts Castle? Were there no Castles availible at first ?

I was planning to make a trip across sometime to see it. I think it is good that the red hall is doing a lot of trips in public, and it is in no way a micky mouse machine. Sure it isn't in GWR colours, but preserved steam can only thrive if they get new people interested. Let's face it, there is a massive potential audiance of kids that can drag their parents down to have a trip on the real locomotive from the film. They can see that it isn't CGI and is a real machine and perhaps they will come back for more.

With Mallard and Evening Star out of service for the forseable future and Flying Scotsman in bits somewhere in Bury, The Hogwarts Castle must be, along with Tornado, one of the few running locos that people are aware of outside the preservation community.

The NRM appear to believe most of 4472's bits are still in the Museum workshops in York: http://www.flyingscotsman.org.uk/news.aspx

    EDIT - Sincere apologies Jon.
Saw photo and article this morning in the latest Steam Railway - showing 4472's frames at Buckley Wells ready to go into Mr Riley's emporium. Thought by checking NRM's website first I'd get up-to-date information on 4472's whereabouts. Ho hum!

Not wanting to offend the GWR following, but I imagine to an American film producer a Red Hall looks like a Red Castle and looks a bit like the loco on the front of the books

Agreed - nice shot and location. Is access easy as I would certainly like a shot from this location ?

You have to give credit to West Coast Railways and their Engineers for the hard work they perform keeping their steam fleet on the mainline. Yesterdays repairs to 46115 are to be praised, working through the night underneath a hot loco can't have been the most pleasant of jobs. Good to hear Scots Guardsman is back in action today.

    Thanks Ralph.
Thanks Fred, and as for access it couldn't be easier, it's where the line goes under the old A1 and you can park opposite. HERE'S a map.

Underneath? If it's the rocking grate then you're in the firebox mate.

Hope this guy wasn't looking through the viewfinder when he shot this video...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVuawOcD4Ok

A credit to the WCRC for getting 46115 back up and running. Also a credit for the TV advert, seen it twice now today on ITV1.

Thanks for pointing that out and the vid I wonder what location that was filmed exactly. With the repair I imagined the ashpan off for some reason.... still very hot work in the box for the fitters.
