Llangollen Railway Railcar (DMU) Event June 26/27

    Details of the Llangollen Railway's Railcar gala on June 26/27 have been added to the Railcar Group's website at www.LlangollenRailcars.com

    The guest will be the AEC-engined Wagon Und Machinenbau railbus from Keighley - which has never worked on another heritage line since being preserved 42 years ago. It will be at Llangollen for one weekend only.

    The event will also see the introduction into service of class 108 trailer 56223 and will feature units from classes 104/108/Wickham and 127 as well as a GW autotrain with two autocoaches sandwiching Pannier 6430.

    A very intensive timetable will operate as usual which will see units working in multiple as well as on their own.

    The timetable for this event is now available at www.LlangollenRailcars.com as a PDF download. All four promised units, plus the German railbus and the steam autotrain are presently all ok to appear and we've planned the busiest timetable we can. Free parking is available at Carrog station in addition to the pay parking in Llangollen town centre. There now is a very regular bus service which picks up directly outside Ruabon station, five miles away, for those who would prefer to travel by train.

    Anybody here planning on going to the Llangollen DMU Gala next weekend? Should be a busy weekend with lots of departures in different combinations from the single car German Railbus to six DMU cars in multiple. I am quite hopeful that the weather is going to stay with us as well which would really add to the weekend. I will be driving several units over the weekend and can guarantee that the DMU enthusiasts amongst us will not be disappointed.

    If any photographers out there are planning on visiting for this event, please feel free to submit your work for inclution in a gallery in July's Railcar Association Bulletin. Issue 100 is due out on the 1st July so any images received on the Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday after the gala will be included!
