Letter received today that 11th July TE is cancelled due to low bookings. Possibly due to clash with World Cup Final. I'll transfer to another date but, hopefully this is a one off.

I wonder why 5029 hasn't hauled any Torbay Expresses since it returned to the mainline a few years ago? I remember it being pencilled in for them (last year I think?) but it never hauled any. It seems a great shame, It's the perfect engine for the job in my opinion...

I'm sorry, but what was meant by that?

If you were referring to my comment about 5029 being the perfect engine for the Torbays I think you'll find that many people share my opinion. More often than not Castle's hauled the Torbay back in the good old days of steam.

No offence was meant and I think what you said was completely unnecessary. Besides, I don't come on here to make 'friends', I'm here to chat to people that share my interest, share info and to voice my opinion like everyone else...

This is an example of how a person can use the National Preservation forum to make a completely unnecessary comment to a new member of our group. GWRman has made a perfectly reasonable statement and has been personally insulted as a result.

An apology should be made as soon as possible to GWRman. <BJ>

  6. Not a chance. Leaving forum now and thats an end to it, so dont worry I wont be back. Carry on your sniping at locos without my input. Goodbye and good riddance!

I didn't mean to upset anyone. I was just stating that I, along with others, would like to see a Castle do some Torbays.

Is there anything wrong with that?

Haven't a clue - would love to see a Castle on the Torbays - more suitable than that apple green thing!

I think a Castle on the Torbay Express would be a great idea.I had a great run behind 5051 some years ago.Nunney Castle I am sure would be just as good as 6024 or any of the other locos in the frame to haul these trains. No doubt many people will have their favourites and a varied pool of locos would I am sure be good for business.

I think we could defiently do with 5029,would really make a brilliant noise on the climbs away from Kingswear and Paignton, not to mention Whiteball. 6024 and 5029 would be the perfect season for me! (Well,i obviously can't have a V2 so......)

Right I have removed a load of off topic posts from this thread. I have also moved those posts where it was starting to degenerate into a slanging match This thread is about the 2010 season of the Torbay Express and nothing else so can we all keep on topic and play nicely together please!

I also had the pleasure of a trip over the P&DSR, (apologies if that is the incorrect title). I must have been on 5029's second trip of the day.Did not get to hear much noise on the trip to Kingswear as she that must be obeyed fancied a trip in the Devon Belle. The return in the same coach was awesome, especially through Greenway Tunnel, the pic in the link shows a few disgruntled passengers, too noisy to chat:smile::smile:
I would relish a TE trip hauled by 5029 but seems that it wont happen this season, mores the pity.

It would be nice to see a castle again it was quite good whren 5051 did it and even Nunney a few years back, although the king has been very impressive of late
