Nice pics Steamgalore but that is a long way to go to drink Bitburger.....

The great thing about German events is a beer and Bratwurst are never far away!

My happy band stayed just over 100 yards from the brewery but to be honest we consumed much more Hefeweizen than we did Bit.

Interesting selection of images which confirms my suspicion that the best shots came from those who had access to transport and weren't locked into the DB timetable. Whilst station shots are good, some of the landscape scenes [ especially on the Gerolstein - Ulmen line ] are simply to salivate over - well done and thanks for making me jealous for staying on the trains rather than undertake lineside photography.

Ah yes, Hefenweiz. Quite a few of those consumed over the weekend! A few more photos below.

In reply to Fred, the bottom shot was taken at Murlenbach, just south of Gerolstein, and was only 5 minutes walk from the station. Luckily the tree blocks out the dozen Germans who were chasing by minibus! I only really did any sort of chasing on the last couple of afternoons, plus all day Tuesday. The rest of the time I was on the train, so most shots were station or local shots.

Thanks for sharing. Jealous you saw the 2-6-0T is sun. Each time I saw it the light was grot and was t&t with a blooming diesel.
In October there's a three day Plandampf based on Meiningen with steam hauled 2500t freights and other "Photozüge" and should be well worth a visit. It's a "paid for" event though so get your wallet out of you're going.

Some lovely photos from an excellent event. Now thinking maybe I shouldn't have spent all 4 days riding around. Anyway my attempts are here, no beautiful lineside pictures for me, mostly taken around stations.

Thanks for these. They show an interesting and different perspective to the event, especially for those of us who were out in the countryside for the event.
