The photographs are of St Rollox works at the back end, a large number of Claytons were also stored in the old steam shed at Ardrossen

Any news on the real thing - D8568 at Chinnor? Last time I saw it it was out of service. The DTG website http://www.westernchampion.co.uk/ is a little uninformative and Chinnors adds nothing.

The Class 17s were split into 3 designated sub groups. The first batch built with Paxman engines and GEC equipment were Class 17/1. Following poor performance of these, 2 locos designated Class 17/2 had the Rolls Royce engines and slightly raised bonnets. Bearing in mind the main problem associated with the class were the Paxman engines surely there was a significant improvement with the Rolls Royce engines? And if indeed they were better why did they not perpetuate this into the final batch of locos (built by Beyer Peacock) that became Class17/3?

I've recently join this Blog mostly I have confess due to my search for information about the Class 17 Clayton.
Am I missing something or is everyone else able to view the links to Neil's photo's except me.
I am especially keen to view pictures of the Rolls Royce Class 17 Clayton (D8586 & 8587 I think)

    I would appreciate any assistance.
    Regards, Ray Pepsi Colla

I have really enjoyed browsing this site today, it is a great news site & a fantastic resource for a modeller like myself.
Neil appears to post pictures allot, but the links appear to be broken in all instances.
I don't know if Neil's pictures were linked via the now defunct fotopic site.
If not, is Neil still active on this site & if so would he be prepared to contact me to perhaps assist me in my quest for pictures of the Clayton?
    Are you out there Neil?
