I hope to be out at Culcheth/Astley crossing and then Diggle for the outward run then depending on time to see the arrival back at Man Vic.

I would assume that as lineside/platform collection of donations is not feasible due to red tape there would be an on-train collection where I could hand in a few bob through a droplight/door?

See some of you about, Neil.

I'll put you on the update list Neil, joining at Wigan so I will try to remember to let you know once we leave there.
Anyone else want updates?? Just one thing I ask, please do not bother to reply to each one, last time I was sending texts to 6 people and most replied each time, as you can imagine it was a bit much for my companions.....:tsk:

Right, I thought to myself who would know the definitive answer to the 8f's top speed? So I contacted James Shuttleworth and asked him! He has confirmed the 8f's top speed is 50 and always has been!

He also said that the 8f's lower speed wont effect the schedule as there is sufficent slack in the timings to allow for its use so no need to worry on that score!

Well there should be no problem up Miles Platting with that power available, could be quite noisy...

Ah you know what I am going to say it! The 8f's are great hill climbers! IMO it will outshine the Scot on the hilly bits anyway (anyone who saw 48773 tackle the lickey with 9 on (unassisted) will know what I mean!). I am sure this will be a good trip!

Huge shame about 46115 not being quite ready, but the inclusion of 48151 has definately made it a railtour not to miss. Should be plenty of noise up at t' front!

I understand that 44871 is on standby for the run in the event of a replacement being required.

It's officially the 8f so WCRC have confirmed to a fellow traveller.

I'll be seeing this Double-Header at York. The on the way back i'm capturing it at Normanton. The timings don't say when 70013 and the 8F or A4 Bittern passes through as to but I see they have to pass there (within a few minutes of each other) to take the line to York Via Castleford or the Same from York to Wakfield Kirkgate via Castleford . Can someone please Confirm they Pass through Normanton so i don't end-up going to a Station they're not schedueled to run through?

This may be a silly question, but what is happening with the stock after termination at Preston this evening? Is it coming back to Carnforth via Bllackburn tonight or up the mainline sometime tomorrow.

Failed miserably to extract myself from bed this AM to see it leave Lancaster and wouldn't mind seeing it somewhere else later or tomorrow?

An immaculate Stanier 2-8-0 No 48151 headed the 14 coach Help for Heroes charity special through Patricroft at 9.28 this morning in a lucky moment of sunshine. Train engine is the Britannia running as 70048 The Territorial Army. My donation to Help for Heroes is on its way.

Can't seem to get it attached here but it is online in Yahoo steam_locos and Yahoo UK Railway Photography. Try this: http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/INetS5...9xQa8CUe0UhLVcs-rI/03 March 2010/WSCF8846.JPG
