We'd heard rumblings about this at work, but didn't believe it until we heard something concrete. When mentioned non stop I assumed 6024 with water carrier. I'll try to get on this one me thinks - Im not working unlike every other time we have steam at Pad!

According to Steam Railway magazine, price is "about £200 or a bit more", I don't know if this is for Pullman dining or standard, but still seems pricy, and the mag also implies to me that if bookings are sufficient you'll be limited to travel in "your choice of direction" (ie one way), and make the return on a special FGW HST.

It will probably be in Vintage Trains tour brochure in a few weeks, so we'll soon find out!

HST! Sounds a good trip though........although i can imagine the fun there will be at stations with the general public wondering why an HST is on a railtour :D

Where exactly does it say on UK Steam that this is Non Stop?
I'm not saying you are wrong but If I were you I'd wait 'till Vintage Trains announce it on their website.

Worked OK when Hertfordshire Railtours used HSTs in the late 1980s and early 1990s and also Great Western Trains in the early years of privatisation.

Just called VT. They are not taking booking yet and could not confirm details. They said hopefully next week.

Got the latest Steam Railway last night and it definitely says Non stop; in fact that is the headline "Non Stop 'Bristolian' for GWR175" so it must be right!

Certainly is non stop as elsewhere in the magazine it mentins that Bob Meanley and his crew are ''currrently making arrangements for a suitable vehicle to carrry enough water to make it happen.''

Are 60019 and 6024's water carriers Air Brake only though ?, not much use with a Vac Castle if so.

Are the loco's not dual braked since the green train is Vac braked ? and 6024 has worked the VT vac braked set as well . that would suggest the tender/water carrier should at least be through piped

how much weight could you carry distrubuted in a BG or BSK...

if you used the ISO 1000L pallet tanks -- thats 1000lts of water at one tonne of weight. no problems with baffles or surge

just a idea... 2"hose and 24v pump running all the time -- topping up

The loco's are definetly dual braked, 6024's water carrier in particular started life as a freightliner wagon so was air only to begin with, whether this is still the case is open to debate, but i can't see a wagon fully laden with water being allowed to run unbraked, even if the vehiclees around it are.
