I believe NELPG intend to start the overhaul of this loco this year and was wondering wether the NYMR had much work for it when its overhaul is finished in several years time . With the Pocket Rocket , Eric Treacy and George Stephenson added to the fleet might the engine find a home on the Weardale for instance .
What is the load limit for this loco on the NYMR ? I seem to recall seeing it double heading a lot when it was last working there .

I'm not a representative of either the NYMR or NELPG so I can't give a defibnitive answer, but I would expect its pattern of wrking to be broadly similar to the last time it was in ticket At that time it saw a fair amount of use on low season trains of five coaches but usually spent the peak summer working elsewhere, where loadings were not so heavy.

Basically the overhaul has already started, the loco has been completley dismantled and has been assessed as to what needs doing. One of the major obstalces is the cracked cylinder bloc which has been found to be beyond repair and is going to cost a fair bit. On which note i would like to plug the appeal that is still running and encourage those that havnt given to do so. http://www.nelpg.org.uk/index.php?o...&id=4:j27-65894-appeal&catid=1:news&Itemid=19 The last I heard a heritage lottery bid has been put together and submitted so fingers crossed that all goes well.

If i remember rightly she is limited to 6 coaches on the moors and as such could still be accomdated and thus useful. Trips away to other railways are always good for keping mileage up and keep money coming in for future overhauls.

Just to add to Gresleymans point, 2392 has regularly hauled 7 over the nymr during its years there.
