    Just thought I would post a few YouTube links of DMU engines starting and running, just in case anybody was interested.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQHoT18m68c is a British United Traction AEC 220 engine as fitted to a large number of units when they were built. This engine is currently fitted to M79900 Derby Lightweight Iris as it managed to retain its "original" engines when it entered Departmental service.

    Yes they always sound a bit funny without the exhaust on I think.
