There doesn't seem to be a thread for this one, so here goes ...

I've just had a look at the GCR's website and there is no mention of which way around the locos will be pointing. I assume that the Fairburn and the 04 will be chimney first to the south, but can anybody help with the other engines? I do hope that they are not all pointing the same way!

    Regards

I suspect it will just be the 8F facing north.

    Thanks, Ken.

I was expecting that. It's strange; The GCR seems to design these 'freight' galas for photographers/videographers and then doesn't take full advantage of their unique double track - the possibility of getting a shot of two trains passing. I managed it in this years winter gala, but they were both tender first!

    Hope you are well

    Regards

8F is facing north. Fairburn, O4, 9F and WD are facing south. Can't comment on which way round Oliver Cromwell is as it hadn't arrived when I was there last weekend (it has now, apparently). And I'm not sure if 78019 is back yet.

Apparently its awkward to coal a north-facing loco at Loughborough, hence the preference for having engines facing south if possible.

47406 faces north so that's another one to look forward to in the hopefully-not-too-distant future!

What time does the evening photo shoot at Loughborough start on Friday evening? No mention of time on GCR website.

The T/T says the sheds will be open till 8PM - this would be strange, as it would only be starting to approach the optimum time!

Or does this mean for non photo event people?

The website says the photo event will take place in the yard, yet the timetable says the shed will be open til 8pm. It's normally pretty dark by 7pm now so shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Good, to be honest I prefer them all facing south myself, true you get a passing shot chance, but those two hour gaps with all tender first action and on a good day with a north facing track the sun makes life hard to get any kind of result.

As always a great event - well done GCR. The sun shone for quite a time, no rain - the engines were working hard so great great sound. I'll post some videos tomorrow.
