I didn't want to say anything having heard the run may be on , but last night from my garden I listened to 4965 working away from Shirley on a cold clear still night . Absolute magic

Hats off to all at TYS for the amazing turn-around.

One question - what's "trolling"? I thought that was something done in the pub at closing time. I didn't think this was that kind of website!

Trolling is the name calling that a tiny minority low intellects who populate this site resort to when they can't rationalise or reconcile someones view with their own rather blinkered and narrow minded opinions. The Moderators should stamp on this personal abuse by fellow users every time.

Not withstanding that, welcome... say what you you think and believe!!!

Oh and well done the guys at Tyseley. Like any mechanical equipment, regular maintenance pays off when the major service is due. Keepling on top of all niggles when they appear pays dividends. Congratulations!

Blimey for the dustmen, or should I say refuse officers round these parts 13 hours is half a weeks work. Well done to all concerned at TYS and looking forward to seeing 4965 in a couple of weeks time.

Well done to all involved - just shows that proper maintenance and care of a loco during its 10-year ticket can result in a rapid turnaround.

    Regards,

    Dan

Is 6100 Royal Scot going to be trialled between Stratford and Birmingham?

I am no expert on this subject but if it any help that is the route usually taken by TYS trials as the North Warks line is pretty quiet after the evening peak time.

In recent times loco's that have run that route have been 6024,30777, 5043 to mention just a few.

is this a record ,to do a complete overhaul on a mainline engine in such a short time, full marks to tyseley then, and at least the trustees should be confident that Royal scot will be looked after ,after all tyseleys record with engines in its care speeks for its self ,are they going to re paint it, to put it back into the proper shade of LMS crimson
I just hope that none of the previous teams management interfere with the tyseley team and their use and care of it

Martin - the news about 6100 mainly has Tyseley being the operating base for testing. It seems as though it will move back to Southall once this is complete.

    Dan

Heritage Railway has 6100 completing test runs and running initial railtours out of Tyesley with it returning to Southall '..at some stage'.
Back on topic the overhaul of 4965 is absolutely sensational news and marks the return of a firm favourite of mine. This also demonstrates the top workmanship of Tyesley and is just reward for their love and care of the locomotive. Out of interest does anyone know how 4965's stable mate 'Kinlet Hall's condition compares? I'd imagine their mileage must be pretty similar but she has also seen heritage line use. I hope also this loco sees a rapid overhaul but alas that decision is out of Tyesley's hands.

Don't know about next, but I predict several turns on the Shakespeares next year.

Suspect it is probably going to have a part to play in GW175 next year as well. There aren't too many GWR engines to call on.

    Eh?

There are more GWR locos on the mainline than any other company, and there are many running on preserved railways.

    Mainline alone you currently have: 5043, 4965, 4953, 6024, 9466, 9600, 5029, 5972 & 4936.

I wont even start to begin a list of GWR locos currently active on preserved railways!
