I have just added two pages of contemporary articles from the Great Western Railway's Magazine published in 1916 and 1917 plus photos to my website on Warwickshire's Railways. They describe the building of the station's goods yards.

I hope you find them both interesting and informative.

    Regards

    Thanks

For some reason I find Moor street a very evocative place although I'm not from Brum, and I found your stuff very interesting and nostalgic. Thanks

Is it true Clunn Castle pulled the last staem passenger service from Moor St before the purge of steam?

And isn't Clunn just down the road at TYS waiting for an overhaul?

Could Clunn be the last and again the first steam passenger train from the newly refurbished Moor St?

The answer to your first question http://www.vintagetrains.co.uk/tlw_7029.htm

and yes Clun Castle is awaiting overhaul/restoration at TYS but its doubtful if she will be the first steam train from a refurbished Moor St as the makeover of the station was completed a few years ago. see....http://www.birminghampost.net/news/...26695&method=full&siteid=50002-name_page.html

I think that j4141 is referring to the fact that reconnection to the network of the original platforms is in the offing.
Apparently the funding is in place and on my train journeys to and from Tyseley in the past couple of months I have seen people presumably from Network Rail taking various measurements around the old platform ends.
So I guess it will be a race to see which is finished first....Cluns overhaul or the reconnection.

I did wonder that Kevin when I read j4141's post. However I did not consider "refurbishment" to mean "reinstatement to the network and enable Moor St. to become a terminus again.
Off topic, well done to the Tyseley crew with 4965, kept that dark, maybe there was a message between the lines in Tyseley News No.10.:smt038:smt038

Was at Moor Street yesterday, taking a look at 2885. It really is an evocative place, but a shame about the weeds and the ropey platform ends. I hope it does eventually get re-connected (I've read something to this effect in one of the magazines, but cannot remember which one).
