Any chance of an update when you are at Chester or wherever?

I am thinking of going to Abegele to see the outward run but don't think I will be around for the return.

A few minutes down out of Warrington and also at Dunham on the Hill, looked and sounded excellent with Bill in charge. Probably get some complaints about the diesel on the back... 8-[

Went to Weaver Viaduct and then the Airbus site, the train looked lightly loaded. Not suprised really with IMO poor timings.

Why is there a deisel on the back???

Anyone know what loadings are like for the season? I really wanted to do this trip but dates and holidays have conspired against me this year.

Lol, guess it was bound to be asked sooner or later... At a guess for the Llandudno back to Llandudno Junction move and also to assist with shunting at Lime Street and Holyhead...

I'd also be interested to know... Didn't look good as I say...

Was in S&C on Wednesday. Leander was a star. Managed not to hack anyone off at Carlisle shunting for itself despite being a busy midweek. NR coulod not even spare a platform for topping up carriage water. Requests to use station loos if possible!

Hmmm... shunting too menial for pacifics?

No run round facilities at Lime Street - I guess the loco came in on the back of ECS - It would add a lot of time to RR at Llandudno, then again at Llandudno Junction and again would add time at Holyhead...

OK, I'll buy that. However why not send the deisel on ahead. Let the steam do its job and then follow back?

Extra path will add to the cost. Coupling and Uncoupling adds to time...

Video from this morning now up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrAC1vXu ... annel_page

Diesel hauls the stock and loco into Lime Street, then hauls it back out of Llandudno to Llandudno Junction and on the return for the opposite movement. Also to move stock off the loco at Holyhead for turning etc then again at Liverpool to haul stock and loco back to Crewe. Not viable to run it light following the train..

Reported 25 minutes early leaving Llandudno Junction... There is a service train at 8.35 from Chester to Warrington so with having the water stop at Frodsham I guess it will have to run behind that.

Out of interest would a member of the steam crew operate the diesel for the shunting moves or is someone sitting in it all day?
