    Hi,

I'll be visiting the Llangollen this saturday and was wondering a couple of things. First off, does anyone know which loco(s) are likely to be in steam? And also, are the sheds at Llangollen usually open to the public to look around?

44806 is meant to be out, but it could change to 5643 at short notice.

Strictly speaking the sheds aren't open to the public, but if you wandered up and asked one of the volunteers you will very rarely be turned away. If you are lucky a guy called Dessie maybe able to provide one of his shed tours.

The carriage works will also be open for visitors on Saturday - feel free to drive down.

    Excellent, cheers!

Looking at google maps, is the entrance to the sheds down Green Lane or from the end of the platform?

And are the carriage works the area of sidings to the north of Llangollen along the road down the river valley?

The loco shed is accessed either from the west end of the platforms, up the ramp & across the lane, or from Abbey Road , between the churchyard & the 2-storey modern flat block.
For the carriage works continue up Abbey Road towards the Horseshoe Pass. You will see the canal appear on your right after you pass the Eisteddfod ground. Where the canal goes under the road you turn left down a narrow lane at the start of the bridge. Go down here - slowly if driving !. Follow the roadway right into the carriage works, taking care to check that there is nothing coming on the access line.

    Bob.

There is also one of our DMU's running this Saturday. The 104 power twin is rostered and is in early blue livery. Feel free to say hello as I will be driving the DMU.
