Yep, "Ollie" is scheduled to pass within a mile of my home today!

But I'll probably go up to Kemsing to hear that lovely two cylinder noise from the Brit.

15 late through Ashford, and barking like mad on the curve out towards Canterbury.

Tangmere may win the prize for best air pollution, but I don't think OC can be beaten when it comes to noise pollution - marvelous !!

Passed through Bickley on time climbing up the gradient from Bromley South. I have to agree with Virtual steam though, you could hear Ollie pull away from the pick up at Bromley right until it passed me. Awesome! I'll post a picture later on.

On time near Kemsing. If I'd have know the train was going to be delayed somewhere I could have got down to Ashford as well!

Best to point out I was on a public right of way at a footcrossing, and was on the steps away from the track with a "containing" fence either side of me.

What a pity there was no mistake at Victoria, swapping the locos around on the two excusions that maybe had been in adjacent platforms, (the VSOE was circa 30 minutes in front of Ollie). A Brit heading through Kent at the head of a Pullman train again. [-o<

    OK. I know it can't happen. But I can dream can't I?

If I'd been in postion for Ollie a bit earlier I could have photted both trains at the same place, And then got to work with Photoshop............(naughty, naughty [-X )

I missed out! The train just coasted past me at Swanley - should have been on the station as Oliver Cromwell pulled away nicely but just too far away to fully appreciate the noise.

Thanks Steve. I hope the guys on the footbridge nearer Otford Junction were OK. It must have been touch and go whether they had an up emu in shot or not.

Nice photographs everyone. Well that tour certainly warmed him up a little. Now for the Devon banks. <BJ>

Great pics - such a shame thou that photographers feel the need to state they weren't trespassing to stop the avalanche of comments

I thought long and hard about making that comment.

But as part of my rehabilitation into the UK steam scene from the German scene, (where virtually anything goes), I thought it sensible to make a very gentle non confrontational comment on the matter. There seems to be so much confrontation re heritage steam here that I didn't want to add to it. (I have done that already on other threads, and been ripped apart over it). I regret doing that and am trying so hard not to do it again!. It's one hell of a learning curve I am on. But I really have got to love UK steam again after all those years away from it, so I am working very hard to try and integrate with it. Please give me time, it's not easy for an old fool like me!

Just got back from this - fabulous day out with 70013 in great form. I think we got into Victoria a few minutes early.

Thanks must go to the 5305LA, Steam Dreams, WCRC and the watering team at Folkestone West for all their hard work today - very much appreciated by all on board =D>

    Pictures tomorrow.

    Regards,

    Dan

Don't forget to do as you have promised tomorrow Dan. I'll be waiting here!

I only got to two lineside positions as I was feeling very rough today. But it was well worth it for the experience even though my photos were very ordinary: tonight at Five Oak Green below very much so. Bordering on total crap re my choice of location. But it was lovely to hear Ollie roar past.

Kent Yeti, good photo, I think. Why, out of interest are you so against the location. At least you've managed to frame the whole train, and certainly you are using a more than decent camera (interesting to know what it is) to avoid blurs and the ultimate disappointment of not recording what you wanted too. There are some excellent photos and videos put on the site and if you can avoid the mass of undergrowth and trees during the growing season, its a result. At present our viewing is around East Reading especially the Earley, Wokingham, Bracknell line which is pretty closed in by greenery. Still, at least theres steam about pretty regularly. Keep up the goiod work thanks,

I use a Nikon D80. Good camera, but you have to remember to twist the kit zoom lens tight when the "Fail" message comes up! Must be a problem with the electrical contacts between the lens and the camera. But I am waffling as normal............

For the photo I was in the wrong place at the wrong time I suppose! No clag and no sun. The location is fine and my framing was OK I guess. But I suppose I can't control sunshine and clag from the lineside! (Maybe Bill Gates will come up with some software soon that does control that.......certainly the sun, he seems to be able to control nearly everything else.... LOL!).

Oh no. Please don't tell me I've become a perfectionist! Sorry if I have. I am old and stupid.

Certainly disagree with you there KY. I think it's very good. The summer is not the best time to photograph steam. Too warm and too much vegetation. Photography wise, roll on October/November for the autumn tints and better exhausts. <BJ>
