Helston Railway

Sadly, that happened to me this year. I joined earlier this year with my wife. I never received a card or newsletter. I went over a few weeks ago to be told there were no longer any reduced price trips by virtue of that membership. I could either pay full price or join the new organisation. I was given a detailed, and frankly very boring, explanation, which with my limited intellect I couldn't follow. Sad, but it was good to see physical progress towards the splendid Cober viaduct. I wish them well.

 

At the present time the railway appears in a chaotic state with confusion as to who belongs to which organisation and also who runs the place. Perhaps there will be a stand off between the warring parties on Lowertown viaduct!

 

I do not know the history of this group, but I would suggest that may be that both chairmen and boards of directors/ Trustees need to sit down together and bring someone in to make a proposal, to take the project forward.

 

This sad situation reminds me of that scene in Life of Brian regarding the Judean People’s Front and the People’s front of Judea, not to mention the Judean Popular People’s Front?

Arbitration has been suggested but this is not acceptable to one of the parties.

 

Shame, it's a pity we don't have a current David Morgan around to sort the issues out, who can look at both sides of the discussion and work out a plan that would be agreeable to both parties

 

This is as entertaining as the Tefi Valley thread. Going to be arguing about the price of a scone next!

 

Never mind the price the important point is "does the cream or jam go on first?"

More to the point... who cares?

 

Judging by the tone of the public statement (Also now in the railway press) I would imagine that’s not going to happen anytime soon. Having seen more than my fair share of this sort of ‘Artistic differences’, there are no doubt personality clashes which may be difficult to resolve.
