You couldn't make it up. After over 2 months without main line steam, Clangmere fails again, and on a day with perfect conditions up on the S&C. The tour went forward with 37 706 and I was waiting for it by Salt Lake Cottages.

What was supposed to be the first Steam working up North after the 2 month steam ban saw me go to Hellifield to see 34067 Tangmere take over the Dalesman tour to Carlisle, sadly after being dragged to Hellifield by 47804 it was declared a failure due to a hot box.
47804 arrives at Hellifield from Carnforth with 34067 Tangmere to work 'The Dalesman' to Carlisle and back later in the day

47804 & failed 34067 Tangmere at Hellifield waiting for a path back to Carnforth

Its a shame about the failure after a 2 month steam ban, now any more steam specials from the Carnforth pool (1 engine!!!) will be diesel hauled while Tangmere is fixed
More photos of the various shunting moves around Hellifield plus some phone videos here

    Neil,

My like is for the fact that you went out to see Tangmere and for the photo, and not for the failure of course.

thanks, yes I was right at the top of WCRC yard waiting for the switch over, in the process got my ankles ripped to bits with brambles everywhere, I didn’t know about the failure till I hastened back to the station after the Dalesman left minus Tangmere!!
