Austerity 3193 will be in operation.

There be a free bus service from Northampton Railway Station. First Bus at 0950 (Sun & Mon), 1050 (Sat). Last bus from Boughton 1530 (Sun & Mon), 1630 (Sat)

52322 withdrawn from the event as it has failed with boiler problems.

 

A rather damp but enjoyable event at the NLR today:

It's actually very close to me as the crow flies, but I'd never visited before as it's usually a bit of a pain to get to by public transport.
However, the shuttle bus from Northampton station made the journey much easier (unlike CrossCountry, who did their best to make it as unpleasant as possible).

Not as busy as it could've been, I suspect the rain may have made some visitors choose tomorrow/Monday instead.

It's clear that a lot of effort has gone into organising the event, with lots going on alongside the railway itself.
The timetable was certainly ambitious, with 4 locos and two freight sets alongside the passenger service.
It's a shame that 52322 couldn't make it, as that would really have been the icing on the cake, hopefully it can make it up some other time.

Unfortunately, as is often the case, it seems that shunting and watering took longer than timetabled. Even with one run taken out of the timetable, things were still over 30mins adrift by the time I left. Passenger information about the delays/cancellations was also a bit lacking.

Hopefully will get to visit again soon.. preferably on a drier day.
