They have had a fair amount of practice in recent times and, as they say, "practice makes perfect".

Correct for the period but looks a bit on the thick side lining should be thinner? Otherwise superb job.

With its cut-down boiler mountings and slimline cylinders, 6024's appearance is no longer 'authentic' for any part of its working life. So, arguably, it really doesn't matter what colour they paint it now...

Not forgetting his narrower front end ahead of the smokebox door.

don't forget 71000 went onto 10A earlier in the year when it had problems

Our movement is a better place when collaboration takes place

and 70000 on test a few weeks ago.
It would be unlike Mr Smith not to have negotiated some mutual benefit from these 'assists' though .......

We sure it's not 70000 on test tomorrow? I'm hoping 6024 however

I was more wondering along the lines of some technical advice on the fitting of CDL to mk1s coaches, being as WC has apparently asked ORR for 3 years to carry out method evaluation as part of their exemption application. Some quid pro quo support might speed things along for them.

I have a feeling that the animosity between WC and the other TOCs is largely manufactured by certain factions with the lineside fraternity and armchair commentators

You may feel like that John, and only those directly involved will know what the true state of relations is between any organisations, which will vary between individuals across those organisations too.

Was this a path that has been used before? Because if not I am surprised NR would even allocate resource to produce it in the midst of a steam ban.

way above my pay grade but for main line steam to have a future at some level all the core operators of steam do need a level of collaboration . How that manifests itself we may never see

At operational level there is doubtless collaboration. However, whether we like it or not the two "biggest" operators are essentially under the control of individuals free to impose their own decisions. Hopefully those choices will always be in the best interests of mainline steam but that can't, of course, be guaranteed nor necessarily be the objective of the individuals as time goes by.
