First visit and 20 years too late to live up to my mental picture of trains running through factories and coal mines and scrapyards. I loved it though. DSC07099.JPG DSC07084.JPG DSC07081.JPG Never ridden in a PMV before

During half term called in at the Middleton for a ride when en route to the Dales. A very pleasant little line, always clean and tidy in the station building and a well presented museum. The new coach 2223 was in the train and looks superb – all nicely varnished woodwork inside and a nice red livery on the exterior. Even apperaed to have some form of powered heating. Coaches like here and the Tanfield make a pleasant change to Mk1’s and give the lines a bit of character. Apart from a couple of work stained PW wagons no lines of rotting/rusting stock as found at some other lines. Must be the nearest line to a motorway in the UK!

Is that second image the DfT proposal for new stock for Cross Country?:)
Probably an improvement on a Voyager.

For my sins, I attend Hunslet rugby league matches at the South Leeds Stadium.

It causes much amusement when the away supporters are surprised to spot a steam train passing the ground on the way op the Park Gates Halt.

Actually, it keeps me entertained as well during lulls in the game.

No the DfT wouldn't want that flammable wood.

On Sunday 9th August we were delighted to host a visit by the Slough & Windsor Railway Society.

During their visit, they kindly donated HC 1544 ‘Slough Estates Ltd. No.3’ to the Railway following a handover ceremony. HC 1544 is now a permanent part of the historical locomotive collection at Middleton.

We are honoured to have worked alongside the Society for the past 16 years and hope it will continue for many more years.
