Strange as the 31 couldn't be used at the gala due to needing tyre turning, I guess this and the appearance on those Pickering-Goathland trains during the line blockage were deemed ok due to ad hoc usage.

For those not in the area temps near Pickering were around 28.5° at 1100

It's 34º in north-east Scotland. Not quite as frozen as you might think...;)

I believe it needs new tyres, rather than simply reprofiling of the existing ones. It can be used if they're absolutely desperate though.

Serves you right for being down there. It's a pleasant 26°in deepest Devon. Even better when in the sea.

Curiously, I've had an e-mail this morning advertising "Rockstar" with a "treat bag" included (!) specially with "Sir Nigel Gresley" on October 19/20th, with "Pendennis Castle" also mentioned, although no dates are given for the latter's visit........ Said e-mail is the first I have heard about it all! Tickets are said to go on sale tomorrow, when perhaps more will become apparent. IMHO this does not represent great planning or advertising practice, but as many of you deem me to be too negative, I'll leave you to form your own opinions.

They're both on the NYMR Website... sandwiching the Steam Gala. So would assume both may run then too? Although does that take away from it being a premium experience the week later?!

Pendennis Castle was absolutely brilliant at the KWVR a few years back.

Should be every bit as good on the gradients at the NYMR.

I'll be trying to get up for that

You seem to be complaining about being told of something in advance of tickets going on sale, or am I missing something totally here?

I don't think it's particularly good advertising to be presented with so little information, but perhaps you think differently. That's OK, it was just my opinion.

Once again, you've negatively criticised the NYMR, this time for something which is clearly teaser advertising, to make people find out more about the event.

What about all the announcements about visiting engines for galas? They *could* announce all of them at the same time, as they would be known (internally) months in advance. But heritage railways often announce them gradually, often with teaser headlines the days before.

Just because something doesn't interest you or is being done in a different way, doesn't make it "wrong" or require you to leap to your keyboard in disgust. By now, we can probably guess at your reaction to anything the NYMR does, so maybe keep your posts to commenting on actions which you *agree* with. It would clear this thread for a more balanced and informative discussion on the railway.

Read my last comment and, as the americans like to say "butt out". I have an opinion, you have one. Why do you even feel the need to spin it out?

With supporters like you, who needs enemies. Chill out, give us all a break and go away for a while.....the longer the better.

I'm assuming these locos will be at the Gala too?

SNG always pull in the visitors. But both are cracking engines.

Quite clever I must say to open up bookings like they are doing....if they then later announce they will also be running at the gala.
