Whats the latest on steam out on the network? Temperatures are going to feel like nearly 40oc tomorrow so is 60007 actually going to run from Crewe down to Bristol? It's meant to be even hotter on Wednesday.

 

I'm not sure about the national network but preserved railways such as the WSR, GWSR and SVR have cancelled this week's services. [BJ]

 

Yes have seen that but am interested to know if anybody has intel on 60007's light move tomorrow.

 

I've just spoken to Saphos and they expect the tour to run as normal. Possibly using mk.2 A/Cs? [BJ]

As the loaded Britannia test was Crewe to Carnforth and return, videos on you tube indicate that the engine was turned but the stock wasn't for the return to Crewe, was the engine given permission to use the turntable at Carnforth, if not how was it turned?

 

I believe it went on shed.

I think that this working was 60103 & PO Brake hauled by 2 HST power cars on Monday 22nd.
This STP schedule reports ceased at Skelton Jn, presumably the train was “PINE” in the York area.
Was the train diverted to the NRM?

Nothing shown working forward yesterday or today.

Any idea was the termination at York planned or did something else happen?

I believe the move was stopped at Holgate after a report of a lineside fire which later proved not to be related to the A3. The loco is now in the prep bay at the NRM while a solution is being sought as to how/when it is to continue on to Shildon.

Thanks, it's not the first time (nor will it be the last) that a steam loco is wrongly blamed for a lineside fire.

From the CFPS ...Everything was going fine until the Hartford area when all traction power was lost. Now returning on the rear of the train to Carnforth where the fault will be investigated further, over the next few days.

 

40145 on test heads south at Lancaster

 

20.118 and 20.132 hauling 60007 SNG and support coach from Crewe to Bishops Lydeard at present. Running approx 20 late nearing Newport. [BJ]

 

Do we know if this is due to the fire risk classification and SNG is not allowed to move under its own power?
