Delighted to see this. It is produced by our own @Breva who does such a sterling job blogging for the GWSR which, in turn, has generated much support for the Broadway extension and rebuild.

There is apparently a way to include a simple email subscription to Blogger, which I'm testing at the moment. If I can get it to work, I'll liaise with @Breva to see if it can be added to his blog.

These two feeds were offered as for subscription when I set up the blog format. Previously blogger offered an email service, but I believe that is no longer available. There's nothing else among the 'widgets' that I can put on the page. Sorry about that!

Shame. I didn't even know that Yahoo was still a "thing". I thought that it had bit the dust long ago!

It certainly looks like an interesting engine, but I don't have the tech spec to comment on it. That said, I bet some L&BR purists might be having an apoplectic fit right now, but bring it on; it's what I said would happen 20+ years ago, but no one listened then :D:D:D

At this rate, stick all the L&BR locos and rolling-stock together and it may well be longer than the original stretch of line when we first opened at WB :)

A fascinating might have been is the Hunslet from the bridge over the river kwai. Another survives in Sri Lanka. Iirc they were Hunslets tender for the L&B

Didn't the Welshpool lads go after one of them? I think there is still a group interested in one of the railcars in Sri Lanka?

If you know where to look and who to contact, then there are still some gems out there.

That is the trouble with this forum, I guess. You don't know me very well then:):):) . I have only been a member of the L&BRT (and the Association) since 1979.

As it often says on financial pitches "past performance is no guarantee of future results". In this case, we need to look positively to build the future from where we are now, not rest on our laurels, bathing in the glory of past achievements, look gift horses in the mouth, or play "my member(ship)'s longer than yours" games. to mix a few metaphors.

The way I see it, this loco has been gifted to the L&B from an admirer and supporter.
Is it authentically L&B-related? No. Was it part of the long-term plan? No. Is it a valuable asset to the L&B? Potentially, yes, it very much could be. Are we grateful to the donor? yes, we bl@@dy well should be!

Nobody needs to get apoplectic over the L&BRTs good fortune. My mother taught me, "If you can't say anything good, it's better to say nothing at all" and I wouldn't want to disagree with my mother! :)

I'm sure it would look nice on a short length of track at Chelfham or Bratton Fleming, out of sight of anyone who might be 'offended' by it being at WB :)

Everything aside, I think the new loco looks great and has the potential to give great service to the L&BR. It would be interesting to see her lined up at Leighton Buzzard with both Pixie and Risha

Here is another photo of her while she is at Gartell

She looks very similar in scale to 'Faith', not knowing much about this size of locomotive it would be interesting to know if she would be powerful enough to run between Blackmoor and Wistlandpound with a couple of suitable carriages, something similar is sze to those old Thorpe park ones you sourced springs to mind
