Just needs 9 and 15 to shed their respective skins and swap them over. Then all will be well with the world again :D

    From The DPS
We are extremely pleased to announce that D9015 Tulyar has undergone its first test runs at the GCR today.
Initially 2 light engine runs from Loughborough to Leicester and return, alternating between Power Units.
Tulyar was then coupled onto a rake of 9 coaches and pulled its first train since April 13th 1997.
After a round trip alternating PU 538 and 417 the final round trip of the day was made on two engines.
The loco performed admirably with only a small number of extremely minor snags presenting themselves.
Further mileage accumulation is scheduled during June and we anticipate being able to release the loco for traffic on completion

Do they open the shed doors and tempt it out with a bit of fully-synth and then let it scamper off as the band plays "born free"...:D

Glad to see it's going well anyway

Might be a bit off yet as the mainline gubbins are not yet fitted.
Think a tour of preserved lines is on the cards to beat any last niggles out, raise a bit of dough, then........

In today's real world, wouldn't four main line registered Deltics (9, 15, 19 and 22) in due course be spreading the potential love a little too thinly?

Unless I'm mistaken, I do think it's a bit of a shame that the chance to keep just one of the DPS trio in genuine BR condition (i.e. steam heat) has now been lost forever.

Further to last weeks testing day, after another two days mileage accumulation this week, the DPS engineering team are pleased to report that they are happy with the locos performance and ready to move onto the next stage of its return to traffic.
This will be the long promised “members day”.
As the name suggests, this will be for DPS members only so if you’d like to travel on Tulyars very first trains on its long awaited return to traffic and aren’t already a member just follow the link below.
Final details and dates for the “Return Of The Racehorse” are now being confirmed and will be announced very soon. 719099120_1311012594522446_5852105647906132192_n.jpg

4 main line registered i would probably agree.

However LSL have yet to exploit 22, with a Deltic one way/A4/A2 return, like the A1ST guys did quite a while ago.
IF the DPS can create some sort of alliance to allow that to happen, i am sure enough varied work is about.
One based at Darlington would be an interesting proposition....

I was on that service: if I remember correctly, Tornado was unavailable so Union of South Africa stood in... and it was fantastic.

The one we did, Alycidon, caught fire earlier down the ECML, but made a recovery, and we got to Edinburgh about on time.
Then had a great run back down the ECML with Tornado.

Was there a mix-up with the support crews, wasn’t the fire supposed to be in the A1?

    Haha, nice one!!!

Was the usual exhaust collector fire, with unburnt oil, catching fire, the way they put them out in BR days was to stop, take the affected collector drums engine, to full throttle, to extinguish the flames.
Water and extinguishers were frowned on, don't know how they did it on this occasion, but we had a rapid trip forward from York.
It was our experience of Tornado on the mainline, what struck us was the acceleration away from a standstill, to line speed.
    Happy days.

Now funnily enough... when I did my driving experience at the Nene Valley seven years ago, I was told to "give it some welly" to clear any build-up in the collector drum - so I had the joy of giving a Deltic full throttle away from Overton station, but then immediately having to ease back so as not to go over 25mph!!
