I have also undergone Safeguarding training outside my heritage railway role (the Methodist Church in my case). A key thing that is often overlooked is that Safeguarding is also about protecting the individuals working with vulnerable people of all ages too. It teaches you about how to avoid the possibility of false allegations by not putting yourself in positions where such allegations could be made. It's absolutely NOT just about protecting potential victims. It's about protecting innocent people too.

I do hide my details , because I find its safer that way in my day to day job as people like yourself tend to be vindictive when it doesn't go thier way .

Ive watched you post on here for long enough to know your name and your quite frankly , bonkers ideas and tangents .

I find it absolutely vile that your insinuating something untoward is happening with the youth group and all you have managed to do is turn a positive interaction with the future generation into a witch hunt with no facts , evidence or even seeing it for yourself .

I belive you have a life membership at the L&B if ive read previously correctly? For comments that you've made previously and currently both here and on Facebook , id be wanting your membership revoked personally, you have no business putting down a railway that you dont visit nor do any good publicly for .

The Railway has done amazing things in the past two years and recently with the relationship building with the YVT/EA 's new combined group , you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself with what you've written lately.

Its disgusting and id question your motives if your first thought was so sinister against the youths.

Now is a good time for me to move back into the shadows before I say something I may regret about yourself.

You don't have a clue about me, do you? Or what I have done for this railway in the past, so how long have you been a member?

Colin, have you never heard the expression: "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging"? Well, I'm offering it to you as advice now...

If you can excuse the L&BR-related pun, I have no 'axe' to grind here on this matter, but I would say that I saw nothing in the original posting to suggest that and I found your comments in turn to be a little OTT.

Yes, you have a point. What is the old saying? You can't please all the people all the time.

Just spotted this on YouTube. Originally published in 2014, but don't think I've seen it before. Definitely worth a watch if you're an admirer (even if you've already seen it)!

Wasn't it on the BBC or something back then? A really good bit of nostalgia, thanks for reminding me

I am assuming that it will appear in the Members ara of the Website. Nothing there yet.

I'm sure it will, @H Cloutt, I was looking for a range of views from both meetings, as I sadly could not be there.

I will make a personal report (as a visitor) of the Chelfham meeting on my Heritage Herald blog, which comes out weekly on Wednesday evenings.
