LE movements, ECS and test runs 2026

They have their rail connected shed, the planned base they began for operations over the S&C until "legal matters" got in the way. Previous stock in similar condition has been dumped in and around there until scrapped or otherwise disposed of. Last time I was there a couple of, (I think), parcels vans were still lingering.

IIRC when the postal vans were there they were inside the shed and hanging out its western end, so well away from the station and the loops.

(which by the looks of it these might not actually be. They're solid enough to run on the mainline although whether they're solid enough to carry passengers is another question. Or rather, whether they were before critical safety bits were removed)

Having been in the Hellifield loop for 45 mins on Saturday, as well as Carnforth loop for a little less, the [non enthusiast] people with me commented on the "scruffy carriages" directly visible from our seats in both locations.

 

Not one reported on here but Mayflower worked from Southall to Bishops Lydeard yesterday - high gloss shine to the smoke box door and (rather unusually I thought) without a support coach.

 

Am I mistaken or are there two HST sets heading for the East Lancs Railway today, ECS.?
One from Barrow Hill and the other from Acton Lane?

Looks like Tornado and Flying Scotsman will be arriving next Friday at GCRN together, there's timings here for Tornado from North Road to York N.R.M. Can only assume it's heading to York first and then Flying Scotsman joins the consist there. Whether a Diesel is dragging them both is anyone's guess at this point.

Scotsman was in (what looked like) light steam in the yard when I went past today. The class 09 was behind it so it looked like it either had just been moved or was about to be.

There was also a WCRC class 47 in the sidings, not sure if that's involved.

 

That's meant to be hauling a class 91 on a wheel skate from Doncaster to Neville Hill at some point. Should've happened a couple of weeks ago but no movement as yet.

 

WCRC won’t touch either with a barge pole nowadays!!
