    Morning all

Last weekend was the first Swanage model railway event, a superb weekend where it felt very much like a gala!

    Enjoy
    Matt :)

Comparison of the T3 model and 563 in sunlight really points up the problem of colour matching in models. I bet the model looks different under artificial light.

Seems to be a short carriage set on todays service.

Something quite nice looking at a steam with a short set behind it. More 60s looking

After seeing this post, and the train arrive at Swanage just after 15:00 as I left my dad's flat, I thought I at least ought to get a record shot. A nice mix of stock as well. DSC_0308_1r.JPG least ought to get a record shot.

The B Set has had a shuffle after the arrival of the GW Inspection Saloon, with the Mk1 TSO being removed from the set and the Inspection Saloon replacing it. The Maunsells and Bulleid CK have also been reordered. I can only presume it’s running as a 3 and not a 4 (not including the Inspection Saloon!) so that whichever Maunsell is running on the Cream Tea services this weekend can be prepped.

7 coaches on the set in the bay today when I walked back from my Dad's. So I guess some shuffling still to come. The saloon has been against the stops in the bay since at least yesterday when I went past.

As the inspection saloon has no corridor connection, it is very much an entirety of it's own.
Nice to have for exclusive use (see Celia on the Belmond Pullman) but part of the catering set up, one wonders on the additional logistics and staff to operate two separate vehicles on the same set.
But hey, what do I know.

    I'm just a guard. On inspection saloon 2 cropped.JPG

Not at all as planned I had a ride in the Hawksworth Saloon back from Norden this afternoon. A very impressive coach, with a nice smooth ride I felt.
Having since Wednesday lunchtime been doing very little in the hope I might have felt well enough to spend 3 hours or so at the MHR Gala, but dear old Dad snookered that yesterday by telling 111 (but not me, as I heard about it from the carers way to late to get a wheelchair taxi) that I would drive him up to the MIU at Swanage Hospital this morning. As I have not been able to lift him into a car for about 2 years., not so how he expected that, but then he is 100 in September. So after starting it all off again with 111, and him not telling me he had a visit I just managed to get the 15:20 which of course was very full as I forgot it was a Fish and Chips afternoon. But a very comfortable ride back, and today being the first day of use, very clean windows. DSC_0310.JPG

    Swanage Railway facebook:

We have taken a major step forward by applying to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for funding to convert two of our carriages into fully accessible vehicles.
These will not be token adaptations. They will be developed to the same high standard seen on leading heritage railways, allowing wheelchair users and those with additional needs to travel comfortably, safely, and alongside their families. This is about dignity. It is about inclusion. And it is about doing the right thing.
For too long, some of our visitors have had to travel in the guard’s van, separated from their families and with a much more limited experience. That is not the Swanage Railway we want to be.

Brilliant news and hope they get the funding.

I did ask on facebook about this carriage which was adapted but according to them its not up to the current standard.
I wonder which two carriages they want to adapt Does anyone know?

"British Railways Mk1 Tourist Second Open carriages nos. 4842 & 4961." according to their facebook.

Really intresting to see how they achive this. Good on the railway for promoting travel for less able people

A good option for this would be the Push Pull open Third, it needs a total rebuild. Would look good with the other two.
