Triple headed GWR tanks on Sunday pm

Just planned my 1 day visit. 14.5 hours of steam if all goes to plan. Looking forward to it

 

75069 has been unloaded at Kidderminster facing north - is it staying like this or being turned to face south (I know Harry mentioned about the turntable a few weeks ago) but just wanted to double-check for "movement reasons"

 

Not been to the SVR for many years (having once being Birmingham based and it was a Spring gala that brough me back to the hobby) but will be there for three days, hotel booked in Arley of all places which seems like a lovely sleepy place to spend a weekend. Hoping for good weather for lots of trackside walks.

 

How many vehicles will the goods train be Thurs/Sun?

Will the platform extensions at Kidderminster be finished for the steam gala please?

 

No, work is on hold until after the gala for two reasons, a delay in obtaining the edging slabs and the need to have both platforms in use during the gala. It should restart straight after the gala and be complete by May 1st.

Lots going on the SVR in particular at Bewdley with 71000 arriving off the mainline plus Judy & the Pug making their way to Bewdley including plenty of shunting...

 

As mentioned on the general discussion page, there are 4-way lights at the Comberton Road/Chester Road crossroads in Kidderminster. The council website now saying the 20th as the end date so people driving to the gala will need to allow extra time. Fortunately the road closure on the Birmingham road has been lifted. The queue has been backing down Comberton Hill passed the station turning.

 

It's an absolute nightmare trying to get around Kidderminster , in particular during the rush hour times as everyone is going the alternate ways.

 

So from Hoobrook, is it best to go down Worcester Road and the Ringway to get to the station or is either way not much better than the other?

 

Worcester road and ring road is still likely to be better. I think there's separate set of roadworks on Chester Road South for next few days as well.
At least Harriers are away this weekend.

 

The temporary lights at the Chester Road/Comberton Road junction have in fact disappeared.
