I think the difference was in 2022 the increase was temporary and the market was helped by the US fracking coming on line.
The destruction of facilities in the middle east means the price increase or at least a good part of it are permanent.
Whilst hauliers may fill up at pumps they don't pay pump prices, their fuel cards are mostly redeeming hedged fuel at discounted market price. In the short term price increases don't affect them. The problem is now their next hedge is like a cliff face and is likely to be so for at least the next 5years.

Just a quick nip down to the tunnel crossing this afternoon to see 2999 on the Pullman set. Made some good noise coming out and I’m sure the fact the golden arrow headboard is on definitely won’t cause discussion amongst the purists .

We have fuel cards for our business, we get a message on a Friday updating us with next week's pricing, it's grim to watch at the moment.

Forecourt fuel pricing tends to follow roughly a week after where we see fluctuations.

It's currently cheaper for us to fill up at supermarkets than with the fuel card.

If this continues we are going to be forced to raise our milage rate for the business above the 45p/mile it has been for years.

@WorkingPressure225 or @Jamessquared - Any ideas on what changes to the timetable is for this weekend please, especially tomorrow. Also any idea what coaching stock the two Terriers have allocated to them please? The PTI isn't updated yet. Thank you in advance :)

I’ve attached the modified timetable, sorry it doesn’t have any allocations but I’m sure you know the diagrams! If anybody else doesn’t, Set A works the 10:30, 13:00 & 15:40 (Sat)/15:45 (Sun) round trips, and Set B works the 11:45 & 14:15 (Sat)/14:25 (Sun) round trips.

    Set A - 6 Green Mk1s - 2999
    Set B - 4 Wheels+Mets - W8+72
(4 Wheels country end, Mets London end)

The sets are still formed as they were for the Sunday of the gala.

Hope that answers your question :)

Given that the Bluebell calls their pullman service The Golden Arrow there's an argument that any loco hauling it is authentic because they are actually hauling a train called the Golden Arrow!

I have a vague recollection that the HMRC rate was 45P/mile when I was working in the NHS back in the mid '90s - if my memory is right, is there any real reason to expect them to be amending that rate any time soon?

There are two rates. The 45p rate remains, applies for the first 10,000 miles only when driving your own car, and is intended to cover the full cost of car ownership. There are lower rates, reviewed more regularly, for all other mileage which are intended for the reimbursement of fuel.

You are only telling me something that, of course, I already knew.

    Except I had forgotten it!

Bryan - sticks and incoming asteroids may hurt dinosaur bones, but words have never hurt them - B :)

PS. That is an ancient dinosaur saying.
