Been up on RTT for a fair while. Judging by the time taken to travel between Hazel Grove HL and Northenden Junctions (40 minutes or so), I'd assume there's a splash and dash somewhere in-section. Everything crossed that it runs according to plan, but looking forward to ticking off North Lincolnshire for steam, as it's one of the last wildernesses on my steam map of Britain

A quick pre-journey snap. Really lovely weather at Cleethorpes with a fresh breeze, and there's not often the opportunity to walk a beach before a railtour. Racked up the required mileage with 45407 often noted chattering away at the front. Currently at Brightside, taking on water.

At the Northenden water stop. Some assistance out of Sheffield, while there was a tentative trundle just before Earle's Sidings. But otherwise, an enjoyable morning so far.

Soon after passing through Northwich station, ex-LMS Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 No. 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier heads the Railway Touring Company's The Cheshireman charter from Cleethorpes to Chester along the longer side of the triangular junction with the freight only branch to Sandbach on a distinctly wintery Saturday 28th March 2026.
