K&WVR Steam Gala 19-22 March 2026

Two very enjoyable days on Friday and Saturday. First time I've done a Friday rather than a Sunday and certainly eeasier to get to by public transport. Not sure if I can make the diesel gala but definitely will try for next year's steam gala.

 

A quick picture: 41241 and the Goods met a fast running deer near Haworth.

The giveaway is that 52044 still has her Barton-Wright smokebox door, rather than the Hughes one fitted a few years ago. Personally, I think the old one looked far better, but maybe that's just me...!

 

My own offerings from across the weekend. Great to see trains well populated throughout the event, always a must-do in the calendar for myself each year!

I assume you mean the LS pair went via Carnforth and as such facing uphill.

But today's posts show 34046 and 5029 leaving facing Keighley to Crewe surely ?

 

The 37 led the consist away from Keighley, both steam locos were still facing south.

 

So they didn't go the Carnforth route ?

37 - 34046 - POB - 5029 Hellifield via Blackburn to Crewe

 

Aaaagh couldn't find it... problem solved, many thanks....

 

A fantastic weekend, I managed to visit on Thursday and Saturday so here's my video. For anyone who just wants to hear the castle I suggest jumping to 15:47 where its climbs the bank from Damems, note that the clip starts with it leaving Damems loop.
