Don't know about when it's happening but I think it's possible it'll be under it's own power, I assume it'll be a DB job and they usually prefer to not use a Diesel unless it's in the middle of a fire risk period. Can't see Vintage Trains doing the move personally, they only did the last one as it was to get the loco to them, can't see why they'd be taking on the job to take it away to somewhere else that isn't York. May be wrong.

I think it’s largely due to the trespass risk is a lot lower when it’s got a diesel on the front. Which is understandable

True yeah I agree it does make it less prone to trespass. Sad that because of those who think railways are playgrounds the sight of Flying Scotsman on the Mainline will be few and far between.

SLC Rail are the operator to Alton but the return light engine to Kings Norton on Sunday is shown as Rail Adventure Train Service Code. ( More details on 60103 thread.)
All a bit odd..... as is showing performance time <2> in the schedule instead of pathing time (2).

No, I'm not going to photograph either move, visiting friends on Saturday and leek and mushroom savoury crumble for lunch on Sunday!

    Cheers, Neil

Considering its probably the most high profile, and thus possibly the best opportunity for PR that Rail Adventure have had in the UK mainstream it did seem peculiar that they put something looking so grotty on the move considering they do have some very nicely turned out stock.

It does seem odd that those 2 power cars have stayed in that condition while the others have been re-painted, but they do seem to do a lot of work. Maybe they are more reliable than the shiny ones, so they don’t want to take them out of service for cosmetic attention.

RailAdventure posted a photo of these two on their Facebook this morning. Clearly aware of some of the comments about them, it was aptly captioned:

"Our hardest working pair of 43s at KX doing some filming work for LNER - we will paint them when we get the chance."
