The tour originated at London Euston to Crewe as 'The Deltic Express' behind D9000 Royal Scots Grey.

The Deltic was removed at Crewe and replaced by 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley which was now named 'The Cumbrian Mountaineer' to Carlisle and back, with D9000 Royal Scots Grey taking over in the evening back to London.
60007 Sir Nigel Gresley runs into Crewe with support coach to take over from D9000, which arrived 17 minutes late due to a points failure at Northampton, but due to a very quick change over the tour left on time for Carlisle
