Some years ago now, there were adaptor couplings at WAGN Hornsey depot to assist our range of EMUs all fitted with tightlock couplings.
Unfortunately, when EWS started using Class 66s their coupling hooks were of sufficiently different design that our adaptors wouldn't fit properly apparently!
I briefly made a suggestion in passing that the company should purchase one [or both] of the two Class 210 DEMUs power cars so that it could become self-rescuing but, for many reasons, this never happened.

Indeed, SVR reckoned it was in need of considerable work being a victim of the water treatment issues in the early 2000's.
Very pleased to hear this, let's hope it can find some useful employment.

It seems very strange to me - 45110 has been done very quickly, despite being reportedly in poor condition, but the other Black 5 at Carnforth, 44767, has been progressing rather slowly and for much longer. Rumour has it that 44767 is the stronger loco in service, one might have expected it to be given priority.

I'm not sure where this view that 45110 was in poor condition has come from. The SVR sold it because of the railway's financial circumstances at the time meaning that there was no viable plan to overhaul it in the near future. Every overhaul of a loco the size of a black 5 costs a sizeable 6 figure sum nowadays, even a straightforward one. The SVR did a significant amount of work during the locos previous overhaul, especially to the boiler. It was by no means a basket case.

I'll be very pleased to see it back in steam and hope to reacquaint myself with a childhood favourite as soon as possible.

It wasn't air braked previously, no.

Are we sure this isn't an "April Fools" wind up by Carnforth as it is the April issue of Trackside? And then it turns out to be 44767 in disguise on the test runs.......
They ran 35018 BIL as Bodmin when the MN emerged for its test runs.

And they ran 'Galatea' as 'Leander' on it's first test run to Hellifield and back!

Would be fairly easy to tell, what is apparently 44767's boiler has been stored outside visible from the Furness Line as you come into Carnforth station for ages, if its still there it won't be 44767 running.

Can we really trust everything Trackside says? This latest addition is littered with errors and falsities!
