The project to restore and reopen the 15 inch gauge railway at haigh hall, wigan is coming on well and to this end the Haigh woodland railway association have launched an appeal to restore a pair of 1914 pattern Hudson victory skips for use on the railway in both practical and demonstration use, this work is being undertaken by a contractor and with some volunteer imput.
To this end they are seeking to raise £1500 with the promise of matchfunding if this is achieved

Work on both wagons has commenced and the wheelsets are now on new axles and work to repair the frames is underway, It is perhaps worth pointing out that both wagons are from about 1914 and share similar features to that used in the trenches of the WDLR

Yes I am an active volunteer
Shouldn't this be in the 'Miniature Section'?

    Moderator Note

It is now. Please read this explanatory note:

Anything of a gauge greater than 15" and below standard gauge should be put in the Narrow Gauge section (including such lines as Ffestiniog, WHR, L&B, Sittingbourne & Kemsley etc etc)

Anything of a gauge smaller than 15" but above the model 'O' gauge goes in the Miniature Railways section

With regards to the recent issue of 15" gauge itself on the forum, lines which are merely small tourist lines, built solely for the purpose of small trips on a circular route or whatever belong in the Miniature Railways forum. Longer, more established lines, such as the RH&DR, R&ER, Fairbourne etc with proper timetables, several stations, decent lengths etc belong in Narrow Gauge. Hopefully this arrangement should prevent any future arguments over what-goes-where.
