    Neil, I can see where @Fred Kerr is coming from with his Glenfinnan suggestion - there is a water tank to the right of the picture with the track curving to the right through the station and even a similar tree at the far end of the left hand platform, just like Glenfinnan, but......Glenfinnan would have a siding and a signal box to the left of the picture and there was never a station footbridge there. This is what it looked like in 1984 before becoming overgrown with vegetation

    Trust me your picture is definately Achnashellach as it was in steam days when it still had a crossing loop.

    I have added 11 new photos to the collection of Staniers 8F. This collection features the Horwich Works wartime built locos 48331-48399 & 48490-48496 Built LMS Horwich works 1943-1945.

    Including this colour photo taken by Tony Gillett of a ex works 8F
    48391 in ex Works condition at Horwich works after a overhaul at the place it was originally built (April 1945 during the Second World War ) seen here on 4th June 1962.

    48348 at Rose Grove Shed July 1968 looking very clean for this period of time, more than likely taking part in a rail tour, 48648 lasted in service to the very end being withdrawn 3rd August 1968.

    Including this photo of 2 of the class at Shrewsbury, the locos were sent for turning there as the turntable at Crewe couldn't fit them.
