    My next question is, does anyone have any links to websites which will provide detail on German Mainline Steam tours please?

    Can't help with links but that is a stunning shot, assuming that it was down to you. Either way it's still stunning! Nothing beats steam in the snow and sunshine. Well done.

    1st March - Ilfeld viaduct shuts for what is believed to be 6 months for repairs so too and from Nordhausen is not accessible. As such they’ve ammended the offering on the Harzquerbahn and steam is minimal on it.

    Later this year - the Selketalbahn shuts for an undefined period but rumoured to be 2-6 years, for construction of a new dam and other work. It is unsure whether it will open in its current form again.

    Harzgerode - this branch has been shut since spring 2025 for engineering and still shows no sign of reopening.

    Generally - The cost cutting measures they need to put in
    Place make it unlikely that post 2026 it will be anything like what it has been, even now it’s partially a shadow of its former self.
