The rail-mounted Coles crane can pick up one end at a time and pivot it around onto the track :) Makes it a lot easier,

    Three blog post updates:

    Docks Heritage Weekend 2025

Have-A-Go Week, 29’s Overhaul, A New Pontoon and a Spot of Gardening

We’re Going Back Up The Branch! (I)
A small but meaningful step in the right direction as we lay a track panel at the far end of the line.

Lovely stuff Ian, some great photos there in your Flickr album. That photo below looks remarkably similar today, but your pics of the line South of the Ashton Avenue bridge make me very nostalgic for life before it was converted to a busway. There can't be many preserved railways that have been nibbled away as much as the BHR, but I guess that's the price you pay for running a heritage railway in a city centre.

Thanks. I both ran and participated in a number of photo charters over the years and the range of motive power was remarkable. Dave Martin was a dab hand at getting visiting locos. Lots more photos to upload.

They are also running their popular steam locomotive and crane driving experiences, in the second week of June. And I just so happen to be working in Bristol that week... So I've treated myself. Not been behind the regulator for a few years, and £80 isn't bad going for twenty mins on a steam locomotive and twenty mins driving a crane.
