I've had a go in it too. It had a rocking, rolling motion.
I even had a driving lesson in it, albeit while stationary at Rolvenden.
There was a roneoed instruction pamphlet for it. I might still have that somewhere...

I am told that I, too, have travelled on it, but I was too young to remember. Again, Boris was the driver on that occasion, and my dad had known Boris in their respective youths.

The railcar was used as hauled stock on a number of occasions before it's final withdrawal.

Better get myself to the KESR sooner rather than later then.

    That looks very blue-ish.

    Is this better?

It still seeems to have its original passengers on board... :)

Not passengers! Was a meeting of Association of Railway Preservation Societies committee, the predecessor of the Heritage Railway Association, which was held inside Railcar No 20 at Rolvenden on the 23rd April 1966. That on the very same day No 20 had been hauled up to Rolvenden in a steam hauled stock move from Robertsbridge Junction Station were it had been parked following delivery to K&ESR by BR a few weeks earlier. Here is an account of that day including the ARPS meeting in the GWR railcar at Tenterden. After the meeting the delegates were treated to a rare Tenterden-Robertsbridge return trip behind a Terrier, where they saw the H-class tank in storage and the P-class still in industrial service.

KESR should outshop W20W in that livery - it's so wrong it's just right!
