Yes I am an active volunteer
Steamrail Victoria (located in Melbourne Australia) are holding their workshop open days in the former Victorian Railways Newport Workshops. From March 7-10.
Usually between 7-10 locos in steam. Doing demonstration runs on a short mixed/goods consist.
    Loco cabs open for inspection.
3 of the mighty R class 4-6-4 on display (with a 4th 'in the works)
3 K class 2-8-0 projected to be in steam
    D3 4-6-0
    A2 4-6-0
    Y class 0-6-0
Sometimes visiting locos turn up, and 'modern' power from the network as well as vintage EMD diesel locos and early wooden electric rollingstock.
Well worth looking it up on line.
Definitely worth a visit if anyone happened to be downunder at the time.

And, as an added bonus, Newport Railway Museum is a very short walk away.

No I do not currently volunteer
I had the good fortune to be in Melbourne during the Commonwealth Games in 2006 (where have those twenty years gone?) and I spent a very happy day wandering around here; I had a lot of Aussie dollars on me that I saw no point in bringing back home so I gave them to the Museum instead :)

Have they got any of the stock under cover now, as it was all pretty much open air when I was there and the sun can't have done the paintwork any good? I take it the "wooden electric rolling stock" is the famous "Red Rattlers"?
